Sardines for dogs
Sardines are indeed healthy for dogs when fed in moderation. They provide essential nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, protein, vitamins B12 and D, calcium, and phosphorus that support overall health including skin & coat condition, immune system function, joint health & brain development. Rich in minerals like selenium which is antioxidant and iodine which is important for thyroid function.
Sardines are low on mercury compared to larger fish species making them a safer option.
Sardines should be given in moderation.
You can feed your dog either fresh or canned in water with no salt added. Avoid sardines in oil or with added ingredients.
